What's So 'Cyber' About Cyber Sunday?

WWE have changed the way they poll their audience for the Cyber Sunday pay-per-view and it has left me scratching my head.

Slightly.

The event takes place in under three weeks so the hype for it began on last night's edition of Monday Night Raw.

I'll write about the polling options when I know the entire list of things to vote for. In the meantime, my focus is on how the votes will be made.

Forgive me if I seem a little out of touch but doesn't the word 'cyber' have something to do with Cyberspace? If so - why is the company collecting votes by SMS text messaging?

I know why - it's simple.

Text messaging will generate more income from the pay-per-view and - as WWE is a business - it's a good approach to take. I just think the title of the PPV should have been rebranded to coincide with their new voting set-up.

Yes, I know you can now use mobile phones to surf the Internet. My argument is - you don't need to surf the Internet to send a text from a mobile.

SMS Sunday doesn't have a ring to it, though.
