I've lost count with how many times a Lennox Lewis return has been written about in the press but another addition to this unrecorded number was added yesterday with word that Don King is offering the former World champion a $50 million payday to face Vitali Klitschko.
Lewis' last bout was against the Ulkranian in 2003. The British-Canadian won when his opponent was deemed unable to continue due to cuts.
Things have changed in the five years since that fight.
Klitschko is now WBC heavyweight champion after having retired himself. Lewis, apart for the odd car insurance commercial, could be listed as World champion of a 'Where are they now?' list.
I think these stories of Lewis coming back are only ways to keep his name from going into extinction.
Just wait and see if I am right - nothing will come of these rumours and, in a few more months, another 'Lewis to return' story will cycle its way back to the sports pages and the process will repeat itself.
