Frank Warren brings Amir Khan to Sky tonight for the boxer's first fight on pay-per-view.
What a joke.
Who in their right mind would pay the near fifteen pounds for another bum fight?
Khan had been fighting a bunch of nobodies on ITV since he turned pro after winning the silver medal at the 2004 Olympics.
They could have easily put a few Khan fights on Sky Sports as a way to slowly build to a major PPV bout but the money hungry promoter and television company feel the best way to showcase their boxer is by hyping him as the next Great British hope and put him on the pay channel right away.
You can tell by this post that I'm not ordering the fight. I would be crazy if I did.
Khan is still untested and I'm not paying fifteen quid a pop to find out if I'm right.
I'll be recording tonight's UFC event instead. At least Setanta subscribers aren't getting ripped off with mixed martial arts coverage.
Yet.
Evening update - I spoke too soon. Khan lost! He was knocked out in the fiftieth second of round one. I was right when I said he hadn't been tested yet was incorrect in writing off Prescott as a bum. This may be a disaster for Amir after the move to Sky. I bet ITV are laughing right about now.
