Am I the only one raising an eyebrow at this 'Jade Goody has cancer' story?
Don't get me wrong - I am not doubting she has something wrong with her and I hope she recovers. I'm just speculating that she timed this news well.
I was on a news website a few days ago and read an article saying she was going in for tests because there was a fear she had cancer. Then, one week later, I was on the same site and read that she was going into the Indian Big Brother house as a way to apologise for her ignorance over their culture last year.
The first thing I thought was 'isn't she supposed to be ill?' I woke up the following morning and an even newer Jade Goody story was awaiting me on the front page. She had been told while on this show that she had cervical cancer.
Here are a few questions:
- What about patient confidentiality? Why did the doctor tell someone (I think it was her agent) about the condition?
- She had the tests done last week. Anyone else wouldn't have committed to anything until they got the all-clear from their doctor.
- Aren't these reality shows strict in that every participant must undergo mental and physical examinations before they are entered into such competitions? Why was she even let in with a cancer test result looming?
- Why was the news broke to her via the filmed diary room? If she needed to be treated immediately wouldn't someone have just pulled her without all these scenes needed to explain her departure?
Like I said earlier, I am not doubting there is something wrong with her. I am just suspicious of the way it went about.
She went to India to be seen as a different person to the evil, racist scumbag they saw her as. I guess the sympathy card was played well for all involved.
Reality TV?
Unreal.
