My Prophecy

I was chatting to an online friend the other night when I made a bold prediction. I claimed that at the start of the 2008/9 football season Frank Rijkaard would be Chelsea boss and Jose Mourinho will be his replacement at Barcelona.

This prophecy of mine was made all the more interesting this morning when the back pages claimed that Avram Grant's job at Chelsea is looking a bit shaky as the chief scout, Frank Arneson, has been trying to lure the Barca coach to the club.

Rijkaard's job at Barcelona has been hanging on a thread and it is expected he will be relieved of his duties at the close of the season.

This is not the first time I imagined something in football only for it to happen.

In the early part of 1998, I had a dream that Ruud Gullit was the manager of Newcastle United. Months later it became a reality as the Dutchman took over after Kenny Dalglish was sacked.

I was fortunate to have told people about my vision so I didn't look crazy when Gullit was named as the new coach. My friends were quite shocked.

I wonder if there will be any shock this Summer when this premonition becomes real.
