Return Of The Gladiators

American Gladiators - the TV show that was famous in the eighties and early nineties - made its return to US television early this year.

The physical game show is now hosted by Hulk Hogan and Leila Ali and is a revamped version of the original.

I haven't seen this new version and I doubt I really want to. American Gladiators was okay when you see it the first time, a second time and it's plain boring.

Same for the UK version of the show. One episode and you have seen it all before. That's not to say I just watched one episode, I watched many - but it was extremely repetitive.

I woke up this morning to news that the UK is following suit and bringing back Gladiators to our screens. Ian Wright is meant to be the host of the new show which will more than likely air on Sky One.

The renaissance won't last. If they had sustained their popularity in the first place we wouldn't be here today talking about their return. It's just going to be a question of how long until the television companies pull the plug again.

And I thought Virgin Media not carrying Sky One was a bad thing!
