4025 Days Later

I remember the day Kevin Keegan left Newcastle United.

We were in the changing room of the National Sports Centre of Wales and I was wearing my Newcastle shirt. My friend Martin came in and broke the news to me.

When I got home I spent the evening watching it unfold on the news. Bear in mind this was in a time before Sky Sports News so I had to watch it on those brief news updates they did on Sky Sports at the top of the hour.

To me it was like someone famous had died. It was the worst time I experienced as a Newcastle United supporter.

Four thousand and twenty-five days later and Keegan has returned to the club.

And I'm luvvin' it.

I wrote this post yesterday evening to attempt to capture my feeling at the time I heard of the news. I spent most of the night watching Setanta Sports News and the thing that I wanted to add is - I am more shocked that he has returned than I was when he left in 1997.
