I am the Sixty Minute Man, woooooooooooooooooooooo!
Ric Flair would often claim to be the Sixty Minute Man in his wrestling promos. Well, with all due respect to the Nature Boy, you are looking at the Sixty Minute Man of poker.
I seem to have perfected the skill in holding on until the first break. The problems I have encountered during a tournament always seem to occur after this initial time-out.
I have started to use this skill in rebuy tournaments. I hate these type of games because the first hour is like a lottery and everyone is trying to get ahead by making outrageous plays as they have infinite lives during this period. If they lose their chips - they simply rebuy.
My trick during the opening hour is to sit tight and play premium hands in late position. It seems to work.
I just don't seem to have that tight play mentality in the latter stages when the blinds are high. I am always worried about being blinded out and make major plays to steal the pot. I end up getting called and my evening is over.
Keep those fingers crossed for me. The big win is just around the corner.
