Going Dutch (Almost)

I took part in a super satellite for the main event of the Amsterdam Master Classics last night. I played well and came close.

Very close.

There were a little over one hundred and forty players in the freeroll that was run on the Paradise Poker program in conjunction with Inside Poker magazine.

I took an early lead and reached as high as second place in the first hour.

I made more strides in the second hour and held on at first place for the majority of the hour.

As the game progressed I began losing chips due to the blinds and antes getting dear. I was saved near the end when I was dealt a pair of aces and it moved me back into the middle of the player list.

With the third break looming I made a move and lost. I finished off in seventh place and won twenty-five Euros.

Six places short of a place in the event in Amsterdam!

I can't fault the tournament, though. I played with what I was given. I was dealt pairs of aces, kings and even queens. I went all-in with the queens and had the 'those damn queens' story all ready to be published but they won for me.

Did I ever tell you how much I love playing pocket queens?
