Anarchy In The UK

Sometimes I don't understand this world.

I have been watching the coverage of the murder of eleven-year old Rhys Jones. It's just made me realise how terrible this country has become for gun crime.

The boy was shot in the car park of the pub near his home.

Police believe the crime was related to a gang war. Rhys was the innocent victim who was certainly at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Just the other day there was a noting that it was twenty years since the Hungerford massacre. In the two decades since that madman, Michael Ryan shot dead Innocent people we have seen a lot of killings related to guns.

I don't really know what can be done to stop it, either. They had a gun amnesty in the late 1990's in the wake of the Dunblane murders.

But the crimes will continue to happen. And that's the thing that scares me about the society we are bringing up today's children in.

As we learnt this week - some kids won't have a chance to prosper in this environment.
