The new Nintedo console, Wii, was launched in the United Kingdom this past Friday and sold out in record time.
I read that some shoppers had camped outside the shops days before they went on sale at the turn of midnight on the eighth.
There are also many reports that people who had pre-ordered the machine were told in the weeks leading up to the sale that Nintendo had not given out enough units to the stores in question so a lot of people were let down on the release date.
The Wii looks very nifty in that your actions are how you control the gameplay. I am going to attempt to buy one in the new year because I have always bought the newest Nintendo console whenever they have been released.
The debut has caused me to be suspicious about the machine, though. Nintendo knew that by charging £180 for a state of the art video game console they were set to sell loads of them. Why didn't they ship out more?
I think the answer is in how the sell-out would generate a lot of publicity and the less they supply the more the demand will be.
Good business or bad business? I don't know all I do know is the queues are still out there.
