I have been playing good cards in the last few tournaments I entered. The problem, however, is I have ended up against sucky cards that have evicted me from the games.
Take last night for instance. I was in a twenty seat tournament. The top four got paid and I finished on the bubble. I was dealt KA and the chip leader went all-in with his 19,000 chips. I should have folded but thought I had a chance to attack his stack so I called with my remaining 4,000. He turned over 10 3 suited. He hit another ten on the board and I finished in fifth place.
I was gutted.
Later that evening, I was speaking to my friend Julie and told her about the bad run of form and told her I should be named the Austin Powers of Poker because I had lost my mojo.
But just like in the movies I regained it!
I entered another one of the $5 sit-n-go's this afternoon and after ninety minutes play I was heads-up guaranteed at least $30.
We fought back and forth with me holding a 2:1 chip ratio. I was dealt K A in the big blind and he went all-in. Memories of last night's game flashed through my mind as I hit the call button but the story was different.
He turned over an Ace and Three and my hand won when a King came up on the river. Even if it hadn't arrived I was still set to win the hand as I had the better Ace.
I left with $40 and a newly gained confidence.
