What a balls up!

Most poker sites go on GMT so whenever I see the time of a tournament I add an hour. I did tonight as well.

I forgot that William Hill go on the BST clock so I was shocked to find the table loading up when I logged in just after eleven.

I was still at the table and eight people were left from the starting eleven. There was only one place to Sunday's final available and the person who finished in second place won the remaining £13 in the prize pool.

I managed to claw back and double up my chips (I had a little over a grand by the time I realised I was late).

It ended up with me against another player who had 10,000 chips to my 3,000.

The chip ratio was too great and I succumbed to him after more or less throwing away my stack hoping for an ace to come up and save me when I knew he had hit a king on the flop.

My heads up play has been one of my weaker points in poker and I really do need to start finding out ways to improve because you cannot win poker tournaments unless you can master the art of one on one play.

It wasn't a waste of time, though. I made the £13 that will go towards the next £2 qualifier..

I will fight back!
