Glory Days

I am in the process of renewing my passport so have been filling out forms, getting photographs done and having both the forms and photos countersigned by a friend.

The obsolete passport is a story within itself. The young face in the photograph is a litle bit thinner than it is now. The hair is a lot shorter than today. The mind of today, however, is a lot wiser.

Looking back at this picture reminds me of that Bruce Springsteen song 'Glory Days'. Ten years ago things were so easy going - there was no job to worry about and the partying was plentiful.

Back then I was hanging around with a bunch of guys who were inseperable we were collectively known as 'The Cadre'. We had such a blast.

Now I think I'm going down to the well tonight,
and I'm going to drink 'til I get my fill.
And I hope when I get old I don't sit around thinking about it,
but I probably will.
Yeah, just sitting back trying to recapture,
a little glory of.. well time slips away,
and leaves you with nothing Mister but,
boring stories of Glory Days
