I was shocked to hear that Gene Pitney had died. I was even more surprised to find out that it was in the Cardiff Hilton which isn't too far from where I sit now typing this blog.
I must admit I didn't have a lot of his songs but only the well known ones like 'Something's gotten hold of my heart.'
It's another celebrity to be found in his hotel room and it reminds of something Bret Hart said this past Saturday night in his Hall of Fame induction speech.
He noted that as a well known person who toured for a living and was always away from home you have to open yourself up to loneliness on the road.
Hotel rooms become their home on the road so even though it wasn't an ideal time to go at least Mr Pitney was at peace when he did.
