Boxing Day '96

A couple of days ago, I wrote about what was on TV during Christmas in 1981, 1986, 1991 and 1996 and I have just taken a look at what was on the box on Boxing Day 1996.

I bet you're wondering why I care what was on that day.

The reason is because I can recall going out to town on that night, so - whatever was on - was not being watched by yours truly.

I remember it so well because it was one of the crappiest nights I had ever gone clubbing. The irony is, even thought it was a forgettable night, I remember exactly what I wore (Kickers jumper, blue shirt with white buttons, cream jeans (ha) and kickers shoes).

It was like a ghost town. Just me and a few friends. There must have been others in the club, but my memory has erased anyone else. All I can remember is my buddies and I in there with no other patrons.

Now, onto what was on the TV:

Peter Benchley's The Beast was the ITV movie. I have never heard of this film, but obviously know Benchley is the creator of Jaws.

There was a One Foot in the Grave Christmas special on the BBC at 9PM. This was followed by Sommersby, which came on after the news.

I guess maybe I did make the right choice to go out after all.

When I arrived home, I tuned into one of the music channels. The first video which came on was 2Pac's Toss It Up song. It was the first time I had seen it. I might go listen to it now once the post goes live.
