Yet Another Newcastle United Takeover Story

There was yet another Newcastle United takeover story in the news yesterday.

This time, the alleged party that is interested in the club is a group of investors from Singapore. The article goes on to state that the group has been speaking to one of the club's most famous players - Alan Shearer.

They've also spoken with Michael Chopra.

Yes - Chopra, who played twenty-one times for the Magpies.

I can't help but feel this is a BS story, but we'll see.

Another thing that me question the legitimacy of the story is the potential new owners have already spoken with Shearer and want him as their new manager.

There's no doubt Shearer was a magnificent player, not only for Newcastle, but everywhere else he played. However, if I were looking to buy the club, Shearer would not be on my list of possible managers.

In my opinion, and if this is all true, the group is catering to the Newcastle fans who are rightfully upset at the current owner - Mike Ashley.

With all that said, I am sure there is a contingent of Anti-Ashley supporters that are fearful of Shearer being the manager considering how poorly he did in the few months he took over in their relegation fight - and ultimately, loss - of 2009.

Shearer has not managed a club since that experience.
