WWE Once Again Revising Its History

I see WWE is back to revising its own history.

The Mae Young Classic - a tournament pitting female wrestlers from all over the world - began its taping last night. In said tapings, the company apparently debuted its first-ever female referee. You know, because it's progressive in the 21st Century, right?

The only problem - there was a female ref in the 1980s.

I've seen people like Dwayne Johnson defend this on Twitter with the point that the new lady referee is a first-ever full-time female ref.

Okay.

Rita Chatterton worked for the World Wrestling Federation from 1985 to 1986. She appeared on a Geraldo Rivera show sometime after that alleging that WWF/E owner, Vince McMahon, sexually assaulted her. This resulted in McMahon taking Rivera to court over the recording.
