Upgrading Headaches

I am going through the stages of figuring out what to do when it comes to upgrading my desktop PC.

It's actually more stressful this time than ever before. The reason: Windows 10 does not have Windows Media Center.

The PC I have is getting old and slow. I've had it for nine years and - barring one time when the hard drive broke - it has served me well.

I have had a Virgin Media set top box connected to a TV Tuner in the back of the PC since I bought it and I want to be able to continue doing what I do with it (ie record WWE Raw in the early hours of a Tuesday, stream NFL to the TV in my bedroom during the NFL season and more).

The NFL thing is certainly out the window. I have been using an X-Box 360 as a Media Center Extender. Therefore, as WMC is not on the latest edition of Windows, I have to find another way to get the NFL in my bedroom. That's doable, though. I'm going to purchase a digisender when it's nearer to the season.

It's just the recording that's irking me right now.

I tried a few other Media Center kind of programs over the weekend and I am rubbish at figuring out how to get them to work with the current setup in order to figure out whether I can do the same on the new PC whenever I make the jump.

I'm not going to start buying anything new until I know I can get something that will enable me to record TV onto my PC. Yes, I can go downstairs and do it on the two boxes I have down there. I'm a creature of habit and am so used to spending the Tuesday mornings watching Raw as I am sitting at the desktop.

I've spent days and days trying to figure this all out. I'll get there.

Eventually.
