Biggie 15

Today is the fifteenth anniversary of the murder of The Notorious B.I.G. so I'm going to use today's post to highlight some of the songs I have liked that he made or featured on.

The list isn't in any particular order other than the final song which is my overall favourite.

Runnin'
This is the collaboration he did with 2Pac before the pair became bitter enemies during the East Coast versus West Coast rivalry. I had heard about the song for years although I didn't get to buy the CD single until years after both of their deaths when record companies were trying to cash in on them.

One More Chance
The original song appeared on Biggie's debut album, Ready to Die. However, my favourite version is the remix that was done for a music video that appeared quite often on MTV. It's one of the songs that reminds me of the summer holidays of 1995 which is the year I left high school.

Notorious Thugs
Track 1 of the 2nd disc of Life After Death. I used to like Bone Thugs N Harmony so them appearing with Biggie on this song was perfect.

Victory
This wasn't a Notorious B.I.G song as such. This is a track on Puff Daddy's No Way Out album but Biggie was on it. The theme from Rocky is sampled on it so I guess that's one of the reasons why I like it so much.

Juicy
This was the first Biggie song I ever heard and is still my favourite to this day. I used to record rap music videos on MTV on most Saturday nights when I was a young teenager and the Juicy video came on quite often. I still listen to it every now and then because I love the rhymes in it.
