Pickin' The Thiccer Kicker

It's safe to say my NFL Fantasy season is over.

At 2-7, I should be in the 'I've given the hell up' stage of fantasy football grief. Instead, I've found myself swimming in the 'let's make a controversial roster move' mindset.

Thank Sean McVay for the inspiration.

The LA Rams' head coach has made a change at kicker for this weekend's visit to the San Francisco 49ers. Replacing Joshua Karty is Harrison Mevis.

Mevis, who played college football as placekicker for the Missouri Tigers, was signed to the Rams' practice squad earlier this week. He has since been brought up to the main roster to play tomorrow's game.

Nicknamed 'The Thiccer Kicker', Mevis is six foot and weighs around two hundred and forty-two pounds. That's not the typical height and size for a player in that position.

Harrison Mevis - The Thiccer Kicker

His predecessor, Karty, remains with the Rams despite having a patchy 2025 season with eight missed kicks making him the worst kicker in the league statistically.

Finding myself intrigued by this Cinderella story, of sorts, I've decided to jump on the bandwagon by benching my fantasy team's kicker - Detroit's Jake Bates - in favour of the Rams' new signing.

I have made myself more invested in this story now. I wish Mevis the best of luck tomorrow.

But not too much luck because I have the 49ers at +3.5 as one of my contest entries!
