A Similar Notion

I don't know if it's fair to comment on this, because I have close to zero interest in it right now, but I do keep seeing news and social media stories about the FIFA Club World Cup. Specifically, the apparent attendance issues it is currently facing.

A BBC News headline, from a couple of days ago, reads 'Chelsea start Club World Cup campaign to empty seats'.

The Chelsea game is reported to have brought in 22,317 spectators in a venue that could hold over 71,000.

I think the point I am trying to make is this. And I'm going to kind of go along with the same sort of opinion a former colleague of mine came up with in the early 2000s - when I told him about the XFL doing poor TV numbers from its second week:

People have just spent months watching football. Do they really need more?

The same notion applies here.
