On Sunday afternoon, I realised it had been a while since I had used a turquoise cup to fill a steam mop with water. I guessed it must have been in the cupboard under the sink - where all the cleaning stuff goes - so I decided to begin my hunt there.
The hunt actually ended there. The cup was found within a minute or so. All I had to do was move a few spray bottles to uncover it.
One of the bottles caught my attention. It had a lady on its label. I must have used that bottle plenty of times, but it had never noticed that the image was of Kim Woodburn.
I chuckled to myself because I must have used this cleaner a bunch of times, but it had never dawned on me it was a product associated with the person who first found fame on the TV programme 'How Clean Is Your House?'.
Now, less than two days later, I see her face again. This time it's on a news website informing us of her passing.
Wow - what incredibly eerie timing.
I didn't follow much of Woodburn's career. I watched the season of I'm a Celebrity she appeared in. And that was mainly it, to be fair. I did notice clips of her on other programmes - especially around the time of the This Morning scandals - and she always came across as not giving a damn what people thought of her and candidly shared her opinions about things.
I guess - in a business full of ass-kissing - she was a breath of fresh air. Even if it isn't how to play the media game properly. That should be her legacy.
