A New Take On The Hot Cross Bun

With it being Easter time, or close to it in the very least, I am sure you've came across television commercials from shops trying to plug their ranges of Easter eggs and other items for the big day.

One such advert had Marks and Spencer showing a hot cross bun that's available from stores. Upon seeing the advert - many times, might I add! - I had to get hold of a packet.

Yes, it's a chocolate bun with a strong yellow cross on top of it.

But there's more.

Inside the hot cross bun is a fondant just like you would find inside a Cadbury's Creme Egg this time of year.

Whoever came up with the idea should get a pat on the back. It was unique and quite an enjoyable diversion from a regular hot cross bun.

With that said, there are a lot of unique takes on the hot cross bun these days. However,  the 'Dippy Egg' filled hot cross buns are on a different level. Especially for this blogger who loves the occasional Cadbury's Creme Egg.

Marks and Spencer's Dippy Egg Filled Hot Cross Buns come in packets of six. Here's how the packaging looks for those who might be on the lookout:
