The Festive Gap

Maybe this is a case of me living under a rock, or inside a bubble, but I came across a term for the very first time today.

It's.. Twixmas.

My introduction to the word came in an email from Slim Chickens this morning. In the mail, it asked 'Twixmas Cravings?' but that's all I was keen to read. I assumed 'Twixmas' was a milkshake the company has on its menu for the festive period.

Then, an hour or so later, I received an email from Penguin Books. It too mentioned the word 'Twixmas'.

I had to look it up.

Twixmas is, according to my Google search, 'the serene pause between Christmas and New Year'. It's often referred to as 'The Festive Gap.'

I obviously am aware of the period sandwiched between Christmas and the New Year, but it wasn't until today when I noticed what it's called.

Merry Twixmas.

To celebrate, I think it's worth opening a box of Celebrations and to nab the first Twix I see.

Twix
