Bray Wyatt Passes Away

 

I was making my way to bed last night when I opened the app formerly known as Twitter and read a tweet from WWE's Triple H announcing that Bray Wyatt (Windham Rotunda) had passed away.

What shocking news.

I won't be a hypocrite and say I enjoyed all of Rotunda's characters. I loved the Wyatt Family faction when  it was brought from NXT to the main WWE roster. I was not keen at all on his Fiend persona because - to me - it felt like a ripoff of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Or: I'd go so far as to say it was more like Stephen King's The Dark Half.

Still, I was not the demographic it was targeted to. There are many people I know who loved The Fiend. One is as close to home as you can get.

My nephew loved The Fiend. 

Whenever we play the WWE video games, he ALWAYS picks that character. I am sure that will not change. Especially now.

Last year, when WWE visited Cardiff for Clash at the Castle, I asked my nephew if he wanted to watch the event with us on TV. His reply depended on 'is The Fiend going to be there?' Even though I didn't like the character that right there is evidence to prove that it drew interest from people other than myself.

My thoughts are with his four children and the rest of his family.
