Handicapping The Super Bowl

I've just done something I'll do for the final time in the 2017 NFL league year and that's put all the stats into my spreadsheet to work out what it is recommending plays on.

If you haven't guessed already, I've handicapped tomorrow's Super Bowl.

And I am quite surprised at a result it has given me.

For starters, it has projected the total amount of points in the game to be 49. This is very close to the actual totals line, that is set by the bookmakers. As of the time of writing, it's at 48.5

The big shock has come with which team it has to be victorious tomorrow night.

According to the spreadsheet Philadelphia gets the nod by one point. The pointspread line - once again, as of the time of writing - has the Eagles as four-and-a-half point underdogs.

It would be very interesting to see the Eagles win tomorrow as it would create an interesting post-season quarterback situation. Nick Foles was brought in to cover for the team's injured number one guy, Carson Wentz. Would the Eagles let a Super Bowl winning QB go?

Not even a spreadsheet can handicap that!
