Sir Bruce Forsyth

Every time I publish a post where I write about a famous celebrity passing away, I tend to start off by writing 'I was sorry to hear (insert name) has passed away'. And it's true. I am sorry to hear of these celebrities passing away. However, for some reason I don't feel like starting off today's post saying that of Bruce Forsyth.

Because I want to put him a level slightly above the rest.

Bruce Forsyth was a legend where I'm concerned. He was the best television entertainer. Ever.

Bruce Forsyth

Some of my favourite memories of watching television as a young child were from watching his shows. For example - I remember in the living room watching Play Your Cards Right at a very young age shouting 'Higher' or 'Lower' at the screen along with two relatives.

I recall Bruce's move away from ITV and it meaning that the game show was ended. But I also remember how chuffed I was during my early teens when the programme returned following Brucie's return to ITV.

The two relatives I watched the programme with had passed on, but I was so glad to see the show return to our screens.

I got to tell him these stories when I wrote to him twelve years ago. He replied, but it wasn't just with an autograph. He took the time to type up a proper letter along with the autograph. I thought that was very generous of him.

So, yeah, I was sorry to hear of his passing.
