The news coming out of World Wrestling Entertainment a little over a week ago was that a fourth Marine movie is going into production.
I saw the first movie in the series as it starred John Cena, I tried to watch The Marine II - which had Ted Dibiase Jr in the lead role - but I tapped out after the first five minutes and as for the third? With The Miz?
No way.
Well, not until I read the aforementioned news.
Now knowing that Mike 'The Miz' Mizanin would be reprising his role for the fourth instalment, I thought I should take a look at the movie.
I had avoided it like the plague. It was there on my Now TV subscription for weeks but I kept passing it by. I even chose to watch 12 Rounds II over it (Randy Orton's acting wasn't as bad as I had expected).
Anyway, back to The Marine III.
I think the wrestling fan in me is taking over my critical brain because I didn't hate it as much as I thought I would.
Don't get me wrong, it isn't a Kubrick masterpiece but it can entertain an action movie fan for an hour and a half.
With that noted, it did take a while for me to see The Miz as a different character. The film also seemed rushed. This had a lot to do with establishing the characters and their relationships at the start of the movie. It took too long.
The point I am trying to make is I did not hate the film and I am curious to see how The Marine IV does. The Pro Wrestling Torch reported that WWE might have more Marine movies, starring The Miz, if the fourth is a success.
They must have thought Mizanin did a good job to have him possibly front the entire franchise from now on.
