Forewarning : I'm writing this post on Tuesday 21st January with it set to go live at 1am on Sunday morning. I wanted to write about my Royal Rumble gut feeling before the odds are posted.
It is the first WWE pay-per-view of the year tonight.
The Royal Rumble is the first step on the road to WrestleMania XXX so we should get an idea of what the main event will be come April 6th.
Batista's return, and rumours about a potential Orton vs Batista title match at Mania, is leading many to suspect The Animal will walk away as the Rumble winner tonight.
I'm not so sure.
Is it too obvious that Batista is going to win?
I'm going to pick an outsider.
Sheamus hasn't been seen on television for months after injuring his shoulder in August. He recently claimed that he was unlikely to be back in time for early 2014. Last time somebody said that was John Cena. He came back as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble of 2008 and won it. I would not be surprised in the slightest if something similar happened tonight.
I also wouldn't be shocked if it is Batista after all. It is the logical route to take.
That's both bases covered. Now watch someone else win it.
