A friend of mine mentioned something to me the night before last that has made me think.
She noted how joke text messages don't seem to be the in-thing these days and she went on to speculate that they have cooled down since the introduction of free text messaging.
It's an interesting correlation.
I don't like going on a conspiracy theory tirade (all the time) but couldn't the original joke text messages have been something the operators sent out here and there just to get them passed on and in order to make a profit from them?
I suppose another reason could have something to do with instant messaging being available on smart phones as well as people interacting with each other more on social networking websites.
Still, it was an interesting observation.
