Thoughts On The Opening Ceremony

I sat through all of the opening ceremony to the 2012 Olympics last night.

When it first kicked off, I didn't think I would enjoy it. I ended up being wrong because it was a magnificent display. I wish I could have watched it in 3D (Damn you Amazon for not dropping that TV I want by a few pounds!).

The parade of nations was okay. I felt that it dragged at certain points. However, there is nothing that could have been done to shorten this part of the ceremony.

The lighting of the cauldron was great and well thought out. Steve Redgrave rightfully played his part in getting the flame into the stadium. Allowing young athletes to light the cauldron with them being symbolically passed the torch by former Olympians was a very nice touch.
