The Angle We Didn't See (Yet?)

This week's edition of the Wrestling Oberver Newsletter details an angle that was meant to have taken place on the most recent episode of WWE Raw. Thankfully, the idea was changed but I have a feeling the framework of it will occur at SummerSlam in August.

The idea was for Triple H to turn heel by pedigreeing CM Punk. As Punk was knocked out, Alberto Del Rio would cash in the title shot he won at this year's Money in the Bank pay-per-view to win the belt from Punk leading to Punk versus HHH and Del Rio against John Cena at SummerSlam.

It would have certainly upset a lot of people had this angle taken place.

A lot - yours truly included - were already surprised the CM Punk angle had progressed long before it could have so the proposed storyline would have been even more of a shock.

As I stated at the start. I have suspicions that a similar angle will play out at the close of SummerSlam.

I can see Punk win the title in the unification match against John Cena and then Tripe H who will be there somehow (as a referee perhaps) pedigree Punk and order Del Rio to come down to have the impromptu title match.

It will send Punk into a feud with Hunter and can then lead to Cena against Del Rio in the feud that has been on the cards since earlier this year.

It will also mean Del Rio will headline the October Mexico tour as the first WWE champion to hail from that country.
