Gerry Rafferty

I woke up to the news that Gerry Rafferty has died.

Rafferty's music, especially Baker Street, takes me back to one of my favourite holidays - Malta 1989.

My dad had the music playing in the car all the way to Heathrow (or Gatwick, I can't remember!) and Baker Street was one of the songs on the compilation album.

I loved it.

Then, when we were at the hotel, they had music in the foyer and coming from a sound system that was in the headboard of the bed in the hotel room and Baker Street would play on there quite a lot.

Years later, I was in high school and the song came on on the radio and one of my friends commented that 'this song reminds me of the gym because it's always on in there'.

I'd hate to sound cliche but it's one of those songs that memories are made from.

Other songs from Gerry Rafferty that I have liked over the years are - Get It Right Next Time, Take The Money & Run, The Royal Mile, Change Of Heart and Why Don't You Talk To Me. Look out for them if you haven't got any of his music.
