The SummerSlam Disappointment

Well, after that post I did on SummerSlam the other day, I was setting myself up for disappointment.

I had an inkling that Bryan Danielson (I refuse to call him Daniel Bryan) would be the seventh member of Team WWE as I had heard an interview with Mikey Whipwreck the other day and Whipwreck claimed that Danielson had pulled out of a booking for one of Whipwreck's wrestling shows over the weekend citing a 'family issue'.

Danielson, if you recall, was fired a number of months ago after choking out WWE ring announcer - Justin Roberts - with a tie during an angle. As this was unsuitable for a PG-rated product, someone with clout (rumoured to be the Mattel toy company) complained and Danielson was used as a scapegoat.

The return of Danielson wasn't the most surprising part of the show, though.

Nexus losing was.

I am still baffled with that one.

They spent the majority of the summer building this faction up and - in one night - their legs were cut from under them.

Why would we want to see Wade Barrett taking on John Cena now that we have seen Cena overcome not just Barret but another Nexus member in a two-on-one scenario?

Nexus were rebuilt again on last night's Raw by being made to look strong again. However, I'm not sure they can get over the damage from Sunday night.

All in all, SummerSlam and the next night's TV was a letdown.

And there I was enjoying a WWE angle in what seemed like a long time.
