The NXT Winner

I have just woken up to the news that Wade Barrett was the winner of the first season of WWE NXT.

Other than the former Bryan Danielson, Barrett stood out to me on the first and only episode of NXT that I watched.

His British accent and intriguing ring jacket made me think he wouldn't stand a chance of winning.

How wrong I was.

But - let's be realistic here - WWE pulled the strings throughout this show.

It was a reality television show where the audience didn't even get to vote - the WWE wrestlers did, apparently.

Barrett may have been groomed to win from the very start so his victory - and the show itself - was merely a tool to get the guy over with the audience before he landed a spot on one of the main WWE rosters.
