I'm getting curious with WWE's approach to second - and third - generation athletes.
The reason behind this curiosity is to do with the company's decision to rename the new arrivals with stupid monikers.
Just the other night on NXT, two sons of famous wrestlers were introduced to the crowd under stupid names.
Joe Hennig - son of Curt and grandson of Larry - was given the name: Michael McGuillicutty.
Mike Rotunda's son has a perfect wrestling name - Windham Rotunda - but the writers felt the need to rename him Husky Harris.
The irony of the whole situation is - they were referred to as being sons of these wrestlers on the show itself.
There is speculation that this is being done as a way to own the copyright to the names should these individuals end up being let go by the company so they cannot - pardon the pun - make a name for themselves using a WWE trademark.
It's silly, though as I believe these up-and-coming stars will have a better chance getting over with the public if they were using names that the fans can identify with.
It's worked for people like Cody Rhodes, Ted Dibiase Junior and especially Randy Orton so why won't it work with the new crop of talent who are on their way to the roster?
