The Bad Dr.

I used to love drinking Dr Pepper. In fact, I can remember the first time I tasted it: Germany 1987.

Back then, I was staying with my relatives on an American air base and the stores on this base sold American products. I would always picks things that weren't available back home so Mountain Dew, Dr Pepper, Twinkie bars, Doritos and other things were consumed on that holiday.

I even ate something called a Snickers bar which looked very similar to a Marathon.

Later on in my life, Dr Pepper was sparsely prominent in UK shops and I would often make a trek to the newsagent at the end of City Road. Back then - in 1996 or so - that was the only place I could get a can.

Nowadays, it's so much easier.

But harder for me.

Caffeine makes me weird. I get an unpleasant feeling from it so have stayed away from products with it in for a number of years.

On Monday morning, I was walking to the shop and thought I would treat myself to a bottle despite the potential after-effects.

Big mistake.

I still like the stuff but hate the hangover, if you can call it that.
