My head-to-head viewing of TNA Impact and WWE Raw was fun.
I had a laptop with a feed of TNA beside me as I watched the episode of Raw on the living room television. A crazy idea but would you have expected anything less from me?
Impact had its surprises.
Ric Flair made his debut.
Jeff Hardy made an appearance. This one was the most shocking as he had walked away from WWE in the latter part of 2009 with a big contract being dangled in front of him.
Scott Hall and Sean Waltman were also there.
And let's not forget Hulk Hogan.
On Raw - we saw Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels bury the hatchet and attempt to get over Montreal which was quite the scene. I'm not sure how much of it was a work but there were parts of it that I feel were genuine for both and it would be nice, as a long-time fan, to think that these two have made peace with one another.
We also saw a Bret Hart / Vince McMahon confrontation which will surely lead to a bout at WrestleMania XXVI.
I'm finding it hard to pick which show was the better.
TNA had the 'shock' feel reminiscent to the old days of WCW - they also had the match of the night between Kurt Angle and AJ Styles.
WWE - on the other hand - had a well booked show which lay groundwork for future shows whereas TNA seemed to be hot shotting by throwing pieces of mud at a wall and hoping to make a, pardon the pun, impact.
I'll have to say the final score was a tie. Both shows went toe-to-toe and delivered in the best way they could.
Tonight's release of the ratings will tell it better than me.
