Bringing Back The Past

I've noticed that the MSN website has a birthday list on their homepage where they state that 'this person would have been' a certain age had they still lived. For instance, Adolf Hitler and Charlotte Bronte were featured over the last two days.

It got me thinking.

How would figures from the past deal with the world of today?

To answer my own question, I've decided to look at film, literature and sport to decide which people from history would make for interesting inclusions to contemporary society. Then, in closing, I'll share with you a name I feel would best be suited to come back and shake this World up.

Film

There are two people who I would love to see make films set in the current time and they are Laurel & Hardy.

Their films have remained timeless and are just as funny as when I first saw them. I've successfully got my Nephew to enjoy their work so I know they can be just as hysterical to the younger generation.

It would be a marvel to see how L&H could cope with new technology as well as finding new ways to execute their slapstick humour.

Literature

Charles Dickens isn't my favourite author but he would be the best person to capture the modern society in a novel.

All you need to do is see how much of the Victorian Age he manages to convey in his work.

The world has changed a lot since he was around. It is intriguing to wonder what he would make of the current society and how these times would be present in his fiction.

Sport

How would Ayrton Senna cope with the new mechanics that have been controversial this season?

We'll never know.

What we do know is motor racing has evolved a lot since Senna passed away - and that was only fifteen years ago. If he was not part of this evolution process could he still deliver if he were to walk back on the track tomorrow?

The person I would most like to bring back

Thomas Edison.

I can't even imagine what Edison could bring to the table in contemporary society.

I'm sure he would invent something using the tools of today in order to help the generations of tomorrow just like how he did way back when.
