The Batista Injury

WWE's plans for WrestleMania XXV have met a stumbling block with the recent hamstring injury suffered by Dave Bautista.

Although we are months away from the big show in Houston, it was expected that a Batista vs John Cena match would be one of the main events.

This was a dream match of sorts. Both had been kept apart for a long time via the brand split so when Batista was moved to Raw this past Summer it was a given that they would slowly build to a feud for the twenty-fifth WrestleMania.

In one of the most random booking moves in history, WWE threw months of potential build-up and had the pair wrestle each other at SummerSlam last August.

It was one of the most ludicrous decisions the company had made as a feud between these two should have been held off until Mania.

The decision did manage to backfire on them.

Apparently, it was in this bout that John Cena suffered his neck injury which shelved him for the majority of the final half of 2008.

Now, it is Batista with the injury. Word is he won't be back until June so there is no way he will make it back in time for WrestleMania in April.

Such a shame, really. I was looking forward to them facing each other with a potential heel turn by Batista leading to match number two.
