Bret 'Hitman' Hart's autobiography was finally published in the USA last week and he has started a book signing tour across the country. The plan is for the tour to finish of later this year in Europe.
I bought the book around this time last year when it was originally published in Canada.
At the time of its Canadian release, no other publishing house had bought the rights to it as there was a bidding war for the publication rights outside of Hart's home country. One of the names involved in the haggle were WWE and it was because of them that I decided I had to get hold of the original edition.
Had WWE won the rights, I think we may have seen a slightly more edited final version. I didn't want to risk that happening and wondering what I was missing from a Canadian copy. I got mine delivered from overseas.
It took a year for the book to finally be published outside of Canada and I'm glad to say WWE didn't win out in securing the publication rights.
