The Cinderella Men

Tomorrow is the Champion's League final pitting Liverpool against AC Milan. It will surely be a game worth remembering if their last final is anything to go by.

In 2005 the two teams met each other in the same tournament and that night will go down as one of the most historic for Liverpool fans as the team lifted the trophy after beating the Italians on penalties.

Liverpool were dead and buried at half-time on that night in Turkey. They had conceded three goals and were on their way home with the runners-up medals.

But the 'game of two halves' theory kicked in.

Liverpool managed to tie the game in the second portion of the game and then carried the 3-3 scoreline all the way through extra time and into penalties.

It would be great to see a similar match like that tomorrow night but I am not holding my breath. I have a feeling the Italians will not walk away losers this year.

The script is set for them to win, you see.

In the summer, Milan were banned from participating in this tournament after there were match fixing controversies exposed. The club won an appeal and were reinstated into the competition.

They can be the Cinderella men this year just like their opponents were at half-time in 2005. They can come back and win it after everyone had thought they had no chance.

It will be that fairytale ending - I can just feel it.
