One Last Go

The final game of poker before my week off didn't happen. It did 'happen', it just didn't happen with the one tournament I had anticipated to be the final one for seven days.

I lost with a pair of kings and I felt I needed to have another showing in a tournament to leave on a high. I failed.

In the final game I played last night I lost with pocket aces when I went up against someone with an eight and a ten in their holding. They hit another ten on the flop and then another on the river eliminating me from the tournament.

'Why?' Was all I could ask him when he made the call to my raise. Why the hell would someone call a raise with those cards? Someone must have been looking down on him.

I woke up early this morning and thought I would play one more game because I felt I could take the week off with a win under my belt.

No such luck.

I hit a pair of queens nearly an hour into the game. I had two callers to my all-in raise and they had an ace each. Another ace came out on the flop for them.

I am repeating myself here but I am really going to have to stop playing the queens. My games always seem to end when I see them as my hole cards. It is really hard to fold them - I just need to start learning to hit that 'fold' button when I have them.

I will be back to the game in a week.

12pm Update - Remember when I said that this morning's game was the last for a week? Well, I lied! I just realised there is a freeroll I am entered for with Inside Poker Magazine that takes place tonight. So I am doing a Tery Funk and playing tonight (don't you just love those wrestling references?). The tournament tnight will be the final one until next week.
