I came seventh in a $6000 guaranteed tournament on Blue Square last night.
The buy-in was $20 and - as there were four hundred and five players - the game lasted well over three hours. By 1:40am I was eliminated and won $243.60 for placing in that position.
It just seems that I played a great game and nothing stands out as bad play. Sure, it would have been nice to have finished in first and won the $2000 but I guess it just wasn't meant to be.
I played a really tight game and took my chances when I felt they needed to be taken. It just seemed that things were in my favour throughout. My aim was to make it to the top sixty as they were pay-out places. Then - when I reached that target - I set myself the final table as my goal.
The final table was fairly tight, too. It just shows that the cream must have risen to the top in last night's game and all of us deserved our place on that table.
For me to show respect for all my opponents on a table is very rare so remember this moment, you may never see one like it again!
I hope the final table finishes aren't as rare, though. It's been four great pay-outs for me since December 22nd. I have made over a thousand dollars in tournament winnings since that day. Proof that my game is improving.
See you in the finals.
