Murphy Mania Continues

After writing about Coming To America and then Coming 2 America the past two days, I thought I'd write one more post about Eddie Murphy because there are a few things I have read this week.

The first is that I am glad to see that the next sequel project he is going to work on is Beverly Hills Cop IV.

Yes, I HATED the third movie in the franchise, but the first two were very good and - just like with King Akeem - it will be cool to catch up with Axel Foley close to thirty years after his last adventure.

Another thing I read - and this is old news, but I didn't hear about it until this week - is a long rumoured sequel to Twins is being written.

Why am I writing about this in an Eddie Murphy post? Well - apparently, the movie is going to bring back Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger as the twin siblings. However, Eddie Murphy is going to be their third brother who was also separated at birth.

Yes, it's title is going to be.. TRIPLETS.

I love it.

All these ideas bring me back to that time when I found out about a planned Eddie Murphy movie that didn't make it past the writing stage.

And it kills me this film wasn't made.

It was going to star Murphy as Axel Foley and he was going to team up with Paul Hogan's Mick Dundee (from the Crocodile Dundee films).

God - what a missed opportunity.

Somewhere in an alternate universe, I would have had the movie poster on my wall.
