equinoxx.info: Cheltenham 2021: Day 3

We're now on day three of this year's Cheltenham Festival. Yesterday's punting saw me return £29.06 from laying out £31, so - even though I was down - I didn't lose too much.

Overall, it's difficult to be precise because I still have ongoing wagers that are still in-play. However, when things finished yesterday, I was at -£24.89.

That number is obsolete now after today's gambles. Plus, I should point out that I have cashed out on one of the 'Ongoing Mutiples'.

After having one loss and two places, I thought I'd take the offer of £7.33 for the 23p each-way Lucky 15 I had on what I thought would be easy favourites. The horse that was left - A Plus Tard - runs in tomorrow's Gold Cup. I will have some more time to reconsider my approach to this race, but - for now - I still think the horse has the best chance of winning and don't be surprised if I have another punt tomorrow.

Wednesday's Results

1:20PM Ballymore Novices' Hurdle

I had £10 on the winner - Bob Olinger. I lost two each-way bets (one was free) on Bravemansgame, which finished third.

Bravemansgame placed in the antepost Lucky 15 below, though.

1:55PM Brown Advisory Novices' Chase

I didn't bet on the Brown Advisory Novices' Chase because Monkfish was a very short favourite and I didn't know which horse to back for some each-way value.

Monkfish did indeed win.

2:30PM Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle

I had losing bets on Sneaky Getaway and Thomas Darby. The winner was Heaven Help Us.

3:05PM Queen Mother Champion Chase

Put The Kettle On was the winner of the Queen Mother Champion Chase. The horse I bet - Nube Negra - finished in second place.

3:40PM Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase

Tiger Roll was the winner of the Cross Country Chase. Such an amazing horse, but I did not back him. My horse was Hogan's Height - it didn't place.

4:15PM Grand Annual Handicap Chase

This was won by Sky Pirate. The horse I have in the £1 each-way Lucky 15 for the week - Encoutas - came a very close second.

4:50PM Champion Bumper

My pick to win the Champion Bumper was Kilcruit. The horse finished in second place behind Sir Gerhard. This meant that I had a second 'place' in the 23p each-way Lucky 15 that's running for the week. The fourth and final selection runs tomorrow.

Thursday's Bets

1:20PM Marsh Novices' Chase

Envoi Allen is the horse to beat in this race. The odds are short, so I've gone for some each-way punts on Shan Blue (£2 each-way) and Darver Star (£1 each-way).

Even though I've avoided the favourite in singles betting, Envoi Allen does feature in a £2.50 each-way free bet treble that can be viewed below.

1:55PM Pertemps Network Final

The Bosses Oscar is the third horse I have in a £1 each-way Lucky 15. I need it to win, to be fair because I currently have one place and one loss with one to run tomorrow. You can view the bet in the 'Ongoing Multiples' section below.

2:30PM Ryanair Chase

I had Honeysuckle to win the Champion Hurdle on Tuesday and Mister Fisher to win the Ryanair Chase today in a £1 each-way double. Honeysuckle has won leg one, I now need the other horse to oblige.

Min is the third part of the £2.50 each-way treble I gambled using free bet credit this morning.

3:05PM Stayers Hurdle

I have punted on Sire Du Berlais using a £5 free bet. My wager is £2.50 each-way.

3:40PM Paddy Power Plate

I have a £5 free bet on this race. Farclas to finish first.

4:15PM Mares Novice Hurdle

Hook Up is my pick for the Mares' Novices' Hurdle. My punt is a £3 each-way.

4:50PM Kim Muir Challenge Cup

The final race of the day is the biggest gamble of the day. I've placed a £5 each-way on Shantou Flyer.
