Predicting The 2017 Season Opener

The NFL will release its schedule for the 2017 season later on tonight, so it's that time of the year again.

Time for me to predict what the season opener will be when things kick off in September.

As per usual, the first game of the year will see the previous Super Bowl winners at home.

That means it'll be the New England Patriots.

The Patriots home games will be contested against the following teams: Buffalo, Miami, NY Jets, Kansas City, Los Angeles Chargers, Atlanta, Carolina and Houston.

Atlanta is the team the Patriots defeated in the Super Bowl, so it would be interesting to see them immediately go for the rematch. The only problem with this scenario is the NFL did the 'Super Bowl rematch' thing last year when Denver played Carolina.

This should also technically rule out Carolina as well. I can't see the league giving the Panthers the opening night game two years running.

So...

I think the Kansas City Chiefs or Houston Texans have a shot this time. It's a toss-up and if I had to pick one, it would be...

The Chiefs.
