I knew what I was letting myself in for. I only have myself to blame.
I saw The Lost Boys II : The Tribe on Friday night and was bitterly disappointed with the movie.
The original from the 1980's is still one of my favourite films of all time and I knew Warner Brothers would find it challenging to equal or even top it.
This film really has damaged the legacy of The Lost Boys.
The acting was abysmal, but that's not the only thing that made me feel cheated.
I was under the impression that Corey Haim was in it. I had read everywhere that he was originally cast to reprise his role as Sam Emerson and then I heard he wasn't in it due to conflict with the director and producers. Then, I heard he was back in it again.
The film ended without a sign of Haim and he was still listed in the credits. Seconds after his name appears on the screen, a scene where he faces off against Edgar Frog is shown.
Yes, they credit the actor with being in the actual movie and then decide to show a minute clip of him and then head back to the credits again. It's one of the most confusing things I have seen in any film.
They didn't even explain why Sam was now a vampire and wanting to kill his friend from the first movie.
Jamison Newlander, who played Alan Frog in the original, is also listed in these credits and is conspicuous by his absence in the main feature. I am under the impression that he appears in an alternate ending on the DVD.
It's quite baffling how Warner Brothers can claim these people are in the movie when their roles have been kept to short, unused scenes that make no sense in the flow of the story.
I wouldn't blame you for wanting to see this if you are a fan of The Lost Boys. Just remember - I did warn you.
