Germany 2006

My first World Cup that I took an interest in was 20 years ago when it took place in Mexico. Back then my main enjoyment of the event coincided with my goal of completing the Mexico 86 sticker collection.

Six World Cups later and the fan in me is still there. The sticker collection have gone but there is something else to help me along the way.

The World Cup Betting!

In the last tournament in 2002 I made profit from almost all of my bets. I made £50 on the first day backing Senegal to beat France. I made £100 a Brazil game betting on either Rivaldo or Ronaldo to score at any point. I won over £60 on an accumulator on the group matches and won £70 backing Brazil to lift the trophy on the final day.

This year I have pulled out all the stops on attempting to top the 2002 event.

I have predicted the first and second places in the group stages and have placed all eight of these selections in a goliath bet. If all come in for me I will make £45,000 profit. Not bad huh?

I know it's a long shot but so are the three Ladbrokes Millionaire coupons that I have done. If I successfully predict 24 matches on their coupon I win £1,000,000. I did 3 of these £2 coupons because I wanted to predict matches using my own guesses but I also did coupons with predictions using tips from Inside Edge magazine as well as using a program that predicts soccer results to complete my third bet.

I have also done a number of singles on the following;

Italy .v. France to be the final match

Frank Lampard to be England's top scorer

Australia to score more than 3.5 goals in the tournament

Italy to win

France to win

I wish all my fellow bettors the best of luck in the following month. I know i'm sure to need it!
